Attendance

The Hospital School provides year-round educational services to school-age children and adolescents while they are hospitalized so they will be able to continue their studies with as little interruption as possible. In a medical setting, school activities can also provide a degree of normalcy and offer distraction from pain or anxiety.

While hospitalized, each student receives daily instruction unless the medical circumstances prevent this. When students discharge from the hospital, a medical professional or teacher will provide information about attendance and a letter explaining the students' absences from school. Since the Hospital School is part of the public school system, credit must be given by the local school for assignments completed at the Hospital School and for the number of school days in attendance.
